Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair Review: Is It Worth the Hype?
Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair Review
Are you looking for an honest Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair review?
You are in the right spot!
We own two and absolutely LOVE them! Despite a couple cons to the chair (which I explain further down), it is easily one of my most favorite baby gear items ever.
With our firstborn, we were given a Boon Flair High Chair (which has since then been recalled). But once our daughter was nearing the point of being too big for her high chair, I began researching booster seats.
I did not like any of them. They seemed bulky and counterintuitive for promoting healthy posture.
Then one day, I was over at a friend’s house where I saw a Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair in person. I immediately loved it and new it was the purchase I was looking for.
I purchased one without the baby tray and one with (for our second born).
Four years later, I am still loving these chairs!

8 Reasons to Love It: Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair Review
1. It GROWS with your child from infancy to adulthood!
How awesome is that?!
I am all about simplicity. Making one single purchase at birth where my child can be set for table eating indefinitely doesn’t get much easier than that!
The Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair is pricier than other chairs. But, it is something you will have in your home for literally a lifetime, so you get your money’s worth and then some!
With THOUSANDS of five star reviews on Amazon, it is a purchase you will enjoy for years!
2. It promotes HEALTHY posture!
This is one of my most favorite features! So many high chairs are not ergonomically designed, and the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair has ergonomics that are unparalleled.
Have you ever noticed how so many high chairs just let your baby’s feet dangle?
That is not conducive to good posture, nor is it comfortable. I think it is safe to say most people get uncomfortable after a few minutes of sitting with their feet dangling with no support.
The unique design promotes proper posture and fosters independence while your little one comfortably joins you at the dining table.
3. It takes up LITTLE space!
With babies, there are so. many. things. That is why I particularly love these chairs.
As you can see here in the photo, our two Stokke Tripp Trapp Chairs scoot right under our dining room table, just like regular chairs do.
No extra space is taken up with these amazing high chairs/booster seats!
4. It is EASY to clean!
Here is a photo of our little guy thoroughly enjoying his meal 🙂
Food is landing in his seat, on his foot rest, and of course, there is the messy tray.
No matter where the food lands, it is a breeze to clean up because of the material. Note that the high chair does come with cushions, but we left those off on purpose.
We wanted one less thing to clean.
Also note that he is not eating with a plate on top of his high chair tray. We did not do baby plates; you can read more on that from The #1 Reason You Shouldn’t Buy a Baby Suction Plate.
5. It is EASY to assemble!
Not only is the Stokke Tripp Trapp easy to assemble, but it is also incredibly easy to adjust as your child grows.
For something that you will have for a long time, ease matters! And this chair checks off that box.
6. It is HIGH quality!
For a chair that is to last literally a lifetime, the durability is there to standby! Crafted from beechwood, it is built to stand the test of time.
The chair is made to handle the daily wear and tear that comes from little ones. And let me tell you, my littles are HARD on things.
With the amount of climbing, playing, scooting, eating our kids do on these chairs, our chairs still look like they did on day one.
The high quality chair is so easy to maintain that it continues to look awesome, year after year.
7. It promotes TOGETHERNESS at meal times!
This is my most favorite reason for why I absolutely love the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair.
I know there is a time and a place for having an “adults table” and a “kids table”, but for everyday dining in our home, I prefer everyone having the opportunity to come together in one spot.
Everyone should be able to sit together and enjoy each other’s company. And it is because of the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair that we are able to do that.
My husband and I (and whoever else we might have over) get to model table manners and social/dining etiquette with our children by us all comfortably sitting next to each other at the same table.
With the Stokke Chair coming right up to the table, our kids get to see and watch what we eat. Children love doing what their parents do, in so many ways with so many things, including food.
You are less likely to have a picky eater if you include them at the table with you rather than keep them separated at a “kids table” because they see what everyone else is doing and eating.
8. It is aesthetically GOOD looking!
The Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair comes in an array of finishes, allowing you to choose a color that best suites your home decor.
The style itself is timeless and is far from being an eyesore like many other high chairs and booster seats tend to be.
Having a chair that looks nice is the cherry on top of all the other wonderful features.
And while there are 8 awesome features that we love, there are only two small cons to the chair that we have found.
2 Cons to Note: Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair Review
1. The straps are a little difficult.
Maybe it was user error on our part, but we could not ever get the straps to be the right length.
As you can see in this picture, the straps were loose and didn’t securely sit where they should on our son.
Additionally, the straps absorbed some food stains because cleaning them wasn’t the easiest thing to do.
We eventually stopped trying to use the straps and just had our little one sit unbuckled. This really was no issue because we never left him unattended and always felt he was safe and stable in his high chair.
2. The chairs are tough during the climbing stage.
Our children went through BIG climbing stages where they wanted to climb on EVERYTHING to see how high they could go.
The Stokke chairs were quite appealing to climb, so I sometimes would find my heart skipping a beat when I would turn my back for just that one second and return to find our kids standing on top of the chairs about ready to fall.
There also was a small period where our kids seemed to fall or slip off the chairs when they were trying to independently climb down them to leave the table. The falls never caused any injuries, more just a heart-stopping-moment for myself.
A wonderful safety feature to point out is that the chair comes with extended gliders to prevent a child from tipping over, so you don’t have to worry about injuries like that.
Final Score: Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair Review
I give the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair Review a 9 out of 10. I give it a 9 instead of a 10 only for the two small cons mentioned above.
There are so many high chairs and booster seats to choose from, but the Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair truly stands out and consistently rises above the rest with its exceptional qualities, which is why I have it included on The Best Minimalist Baby Registry Checklist.
If you love durability, ergonomics, safety, and style, then the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair is the choice for you!
Providing versatility and comfort for your children as they grow from infancy and beyond makes this chair a long-lasting investment you will be so pleased to have.
The chair truly enhances our family’s dining experience, helping create so many special memories around the table.
YES, the Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair IS worth the hype!
